Project Proposal Outline
1. Project Title & Information (Cover page)
- Project Title
- Student Names
- Course Name, Semester & Year
- Instructor’s Name (DUSTIN BRADEN)
2. Project Overview & Objectives (½ – 1 page)
- Project Summary (2–5 sentences summarizing the project’s main goal)
- Project Background (What has already been done in previous years? What’s the history of your project or related efforts on campus?)
- Detailed Project Objectives (List detailed and measurable goals for your project this semester (bulleted is okay, but be specific))
3. Project Plan & Implementation (1 page)
- Key Activities & Weekly Timeline (Break down tasks and estimated deadlines by week)
- Campus Stakeholders Involved (Who will we need to work with? Facilities, student organizations, etc.)
- Required Resources (Materials, funding, permissions needed)
- Potential Challenges & Solutions (Identify possible obstacles and how you can address them)
4. Expected Impact & Measurement of Success (½ page)
- How Will This Project Improve Sustainability on Campus? Why should this happen?
- Metrics for Success (How will you track progress? Surveys, waste audits, energy savings, participation rates, some other type of KPI?)
5. Conclusion & Next Steps (½ page)
- Immediate Next Steps (What needs to be done first?)
- Plans for longevity (how will you ensure this project continues after you bail on us? Be detailed and specific – if you think X person can handle it, reach out to them and get their input before submitting the proposal)
Requirements
- 2–3 pages, double-spaced (excluding pictures, but please include some)
- Clear headings for each section
- Professional tone (it’s okay to be honest/realistic about the scrappiness, but set this up for review by an external audience)
- Minimum of 3 sources (former project pages, other OWU sustainability websites, external websites, etc.)
