I recently read The Kite Runner. People have been recommending it to me since I was in high school so I finally read it and found it has become one of my favorite books. It tells the story of two very close friends named Amir and Hassan. Amir finds out the Hassan has been murdered and returns to Afghanistan to learn what is happening with Hassan’s son. This book takes you on an emotional journey as you learn about how the two boys grew up and the relationship they had with each other. The most heartbreaking part is when you learn about an incident where Amir breaks Hassan’s trust and refused to help him. This moment haunts him for the rest of his life and we see how Amir tries very hard to make up for that one moment by trying to help Hassan’s son. I loved this book so much because the whole time you are trying to fit all the pieces together and you get emotionally invested in the story as it is unfolding.
