News for OWU Families – What do families need to know from you?

News for OWU Families is a monthly email communication sent to all parents and families of current students and mimics the style and process of the OWU Daily. It is on hiatus for the summer break and will return in August (submissions will be due by noon Aug. 4).  Now is a good time to brainstorm submissions for the academic year – what do families need to know from you/your department?

During the academic year, emails will be sent on the first Wednesday of every month. Submissions will be due the Friday before each email release.

This digest aims to keep parents and families informed, engaged, and regularly supplied with resources. Please plan to review with your team on a monthly basis what information is of value to parents and families from your area. We encourage you to make monthly calendar reminders to create submissions and spread the word about this new communication tool to engage our OWU families.

Tips: 1) eliminate OWU jargon, abbreviations, or acronyms from your emails; 2) use ‘family’ or ‘parents and families’; 3) consider your voice and tone – direct your message to families (not students).
