The Black Student Union is hosting StepFest on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 3-6 p.m. in the Benes Rooms to promote and inform incoming and current students about the NPHC (National Pan-Hellenic Council). The event is going to be cook-out style so there will be barbecue chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers and more. Come hang out, listen to music, eat food and see some strolls! We hope to see you there!

The Brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon are excited to partner with 33 Forever Inc. in the first ever SigEp Water Wars. The SigEp Water Wars is a combination of two iconic childhood games, dodgeball and water balloon fights! This is an effort to promote awareness and raise money for 33 Forever and help their goal to honor Danielle Leedy’s life and longtime passion in raising awareness and empowering those struggling with the disease of depression. We are excited to partner with a new organization to raise money for a great cause!

Event Details:
WHEN: SigEp Water Wars will be on Sept. 27 from 6-8 p.m.
WHERE: Frat Hill.
COST: Team entry for Greek Organizations: $50; Team entry for Non-Greek: $25.
Teams must consist of 6 or more players. It will be a double-elimination tournament with a winners’ and losers’ bracket. One team from each bracket will advance to the final match. The team from the losers’ bracket must beat the winners’ bracket team 2 times in order to win. Rules will be discussed before each team’s first match.
We will have hamburgers and hotdogs for sale during the event as well.

Please email me as soon as you know if your chapter will be participating. Checks can be made out to Sigma Phi Epsilon. Checks are preferred before the day of the event but will be accepted when your team arrives. Checks can be given to Turner Johnson or Dakota Bollinger.

We look forward to everyone coming out and raising awareness for a great cause!

The Don Lenfest Award is granted to Junior, Senior, or exceptional Sophomore students who major or minor in Spanish. The students must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.8, and a minimum of 3.5 in Spanish. It is intended for students highly motivated in Spanish (language, culture, or literature), while at the same time demonstrating a rounded academic background. The award is competitive and covers the students’ expenses for a project related to Spanish. A project may be defined as individual research (that may or may not involve travel), faculty-student cooperative research, or faculty-student participative assistantship. The students must have a faculty mentor (in Spanish) or at least faculty endorsement for the project. Upon completion of the project, recipients of the award shall share the results of their research/project with the Ohio Wesleyan campus community and submit a written report to the Department of Modern Foreign Languages. Recipients of the award will be chosen by the Spanish faculty in the Dept. of Modern Foreign Languages in consultation with the Director of Financial Aid. To apply, students should write a brief proposal (~ 500 words) stating what they intend to accomplish; when, where, how, and other details; and how much funding is needed. Please send it to Andrea Colvin at The amount of the award may vary according to the nature of the project and the number of meritorious projects being proposed with the total sum awarded in any given year not exceeding $1,200. The OWU Health Center is again offering free STI testing for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia! Early screening is so important because the majority of people with Gonorrhea and Chlamydia never show symptoms! Gonorrhea and Chlamydia can cause serious health problems if left untreated, but they can easily be treated and cured with antibiotics!

For this testing, you will need to call and book an appointment with a nurse at the Student Health Center at 740-368-3160.
