In other news, members of OWU’s Lakota Spring Break Mission Team watched the first episode of PBS’ We Shall Remain at their last meeting before break, and learned a lot of new (to them) history. The first Thanksgiving was one of the only times in American history that European settlers and Native Americans had a mutually respectful and caring relationship. Everything went downhill from there and got a lot worse for indigenous people on this continent. We need to reach out to them whenever and however we can, and OWU’s Spring Break Mission Program is one way to do so.
