The Zoology Board would like to share a list of books and articles that we have found interesting each month! These will include not only biology books but works from all sciences. For November we have enjoyed:
Poseidon’s Steed by Helen Scales: This short book is all about seahorses, from their discovery to current research. If you want to learn all about these adorable and mysterious ocean creatures, along with a peek into aquarist history, this book is for you.
Spillover by David Quammen: In light of the ever-present pandemic, this book is especially frightening. It examines the various zoonotic diseases of recent history and the certainty that there are more in store for humanity. The best part is that it was written before COVID-19 existed.
Catching Stardust by Natalie Starkey: If you want to dip your toes into astrogeochemistry, this book is for you. Starkey describes everything you’ve ever wanted to know about comets and asteroids, as well as how we know what we know. She also describes what we don’t know, spoiler alert, it’s a lot!
