Work to Upgrade Office Printers Continues Nov. 14, 1-Time Log-In Needed

The OWU Facilities staff will continue Nov. 14 to install the PaperCut print management software on all multifunction devices (MFDs)/printers across campus. Work will be completed in about a week, and Facilities will inform each department when PaperCut is active on its machines.

The first time that you are asked to tap your ID to print, you will be prompted to enter your OWU username and password. (You will not create a separate username/password for the printer.)  You should be prompted to sign in only once, after which PaperCut will associate your ID with your OWU username and password.

Just a reminder: This upgrade will activate features to streamline printing services, enhance security, and improve efficiency. Features to be activated with the PaperCut installation include:

  • Secure Printing: Your print jobs will be held in a queue until you are physically standing at the printer, swipe your OWU ID card, and confirm the job.

  • Anywhere Printing (Find-Me Printing): Send your print job to a single queue and release it at any PaperCut-enabled MFD on campus using your OWU ID. (And cancel the printing if you no longer need it.)

  • Departmental Accounting: Tracking and allocating print costs by department will be simplified for improved fiscal management.

Reminder Regarding Your OWU ID Card: Your updated, working OWU ID card will be required to release print jobs at any MFD and for building access. If you have lost your card or if it is not functioning correctly, visit the OWU Card Office at the Information Services Help Desk in the basement of the R.W. Corns Building to get a replacement.
