I’ve learned a lot since being elected to WCSA as Class of 2024 Representative, like how there isn’t a permanent spot for a person of color in the counseling center or that there’s an outdated imbalance between three writing credits and only a single diversity credit. Throughout my many Mondays of wondering where to start with making change, I quickly realized that I wasn’t alone with feeling overwhelmed. In fact, it’s common for many students to not know where to start. If elected to secretary, I personally will make myself a source of outreach for students to express their wants because I believe change shouldn’t be delayed by a fear of not knowing where to start. Many of my initiatives are shared, such as wanting more transparency from administration, updated credit requirements, and secured and supported spaces for POC. My name is Sophie and I want change. So I have to ask, do you? And if not now, when?
