Welcome to spring semester, Bishops! Ohio Wesleyan uses the OWU ALERT system to inform you of urgent situations requiring an immediate response using email and text/voice messages sent to your cellular telephones.
To update your cell phone of record with the university:
- Students, email cell phone corrections to registrar@owu.edu.
- Employees, log into theADP Portal and use the “Myself,” “My Information,” and “Profile” links to update cell phone information.
- For edu email issues, contact the Information Systems Help Desk at helpdesk@owu.edu.
OWU ALERT information also is available from:
- RSS feeds posted online at edu/emergency, providing an immediate source of accurate information.
- Push notifications from the CampusShield app. Download the app (Android) (iOS).
- Voice alerts sent from 740-737-8880. Please add this number to your cell phone contacts as OWU ALERT EMERGENCY.
For parents, employee partners, or third-party workers who want to receive OWU ALERTS:
- Parents and guardians – Text OWUalertFamily (not case sensitive and no spaces between words) to 58843.
- OWU employee spouses, partners, and emergency contacts – text OWUalertPartner (not case sensitive and no spaces between words) to 58843.
- Third-party employees and contractors, including AVI and ABM staff, enroll yourself using a separate code word available through your supervisors.
In addition to OWU ALERTS, Ohio Wesleyan’s Department of Public Safety also sends email-only advisories and notifications when information needs to be shared without sending emergency announcements.
- Public Safety Advisories: Emails sharing any potential or ongoing threat that does not require an urgent, immediate OWU ALERT. (Known as Timely Warnings in the Clery Act, these emails provide guidance for collecting and sharing crime information.)
- Campus Operations Notifications: Emails sharing any significant impact on the campus environment, such as temporary parking lot closures and planned fire alarm testing.
