This Friday, make the Earth your Valentine! E&W will be selling baked goods, greenhouse-grown flowers, and paper valentines from 11:15-1 in the Ham-Wil atrium. Baked goods will be around $1, flowers $2.50!
(Why greenhouse grown? We can all agree that roses are beautiful, but they have an enormous carbon footprint, as most of the roses we buy in February are grown in Columbia. That, coupled with the fact that roses are delicate and require intensive pesticide use, makes roses much less romantic. Carnations are less picky: can be grown in greenhouses much closer to home, and they come in lots more colors, too!)
