The Performing Arts Department announces a new opportunity to learn a fun instrument … and perhaps relieve some stress at the same time.
MUS 239—Ukulele Workshop
Fall 2024, Thursdays, 5:30–7 p.m.
Did you know playing an instrument can improve your mental health? Playing music releases dopamine, reduces anxiety, and uses both sides of the brain. This course provides fundamentals of ukulele performance with songwriting, singing, and arranging.
In this course, you will learn how to read tablature and play chords on the ukulele, play folk and popular music, and even compose your own song. We will also incorporate mindfulness through listening to music and breathing exercises. Students will select, arrange, and learn to perform songs of their choice. Beginners welcome. Priority given to upper-class Education and Music Education majors.
