The Bishop Way and SAGE are co-hosting a local version of the national Take Back the Night March! Take Back the Night is an event centered on the mission of ending sexual, romantic, and domestic violence.
Tonight, October 29, students interested in participating will meet at the Painted Rock outside Smith Hall at 6 p.m. We will then march through campus. We are hoping to hold poster making events and have tabling prior to the event to allow students to make posters ahead of time, though all are welcome to bring their own signs or even to come without them. Please wear purple if you are able to do so. Iyana Buckmon is also holding a poster-making program in the Stuyvesant Fish Bowl at 4:30 p.m. today and attendees will start walking over to Smith at 5:45 p.m.
We plan on ending our march either on the JAYwalk or in the Ham-Wil Atrium (weather depending) and holding a speak out. Attendees are welcome to prepare poems, stories of personal experience, or something as simple as words of support for survivors. All are welcome. SAGE will be hosting a debrief after the event with both confidential OWU staff and Sexual Assault Response Network staff.
We hope to see anyone who is interested there!
