Tech Tip of The Week: Safe Browsing Habits

Did you know you can click on the lock icon in the browser address bar next to any secure site’s address to see information on its security? This is true in all major browsers.

Don’t open email attachments from unknown senders. A vulnerability in common Microsoft Office files was recently identified: http://goo.gl/qzcA1B. It only affects OLE links.

When installing a program, don’t click the “Next” button too fast. Pay attention to third-party programs (toolbars, optimizers, etc.) that might be offered, these can slow down your computer and give viruses access. When downloading software, make sure to uncheck all unnecessary boxes.

And keep your Internet security software up-to-date.
