Summer Storage Clean-Up Reminder

Summer is a good time to clean up storage space, and we’re running out of room in BishopApps/Google, our local network drives, and on Zoom. Please go through your Google Drive and delete any old files that you no longer need. Also review any Shared Drives that you are responsible for.

Use this link to see the largest files owned by your account, https://drive.google.com/drive/quota. When you’re in a Shared Drive, click the “i” in a circle to show Details, where you’ll see the amount of storage used, (on the Details tab, rather than Activity.)

This link, https://drive.google.com/u/0/settings/storage, will show your storage across Drive, Gmail, and Photos. Just keep in mind that the 100 TB max is shared among all our Google Workspace users. On a Windows PC (10 or 11,) when you go to This PC, it will show you the overall space used on the G:, H:, and U: drives–not just how much you’re using–and if any of these drives are getting full, the bar will turn red.

Please check your department’s or program’s folders on the H: drive. Once you’re inside a folder, you can select the Details layout and that will show you the size of all the files. You can then sort this column by clicking the column header, to focus on the largest files first. On a Mac, after connecting to one of these drives via SMB, show items in a list and you’ll also see the size of all files. Clicking the Size column header will sort, to show you the largest at the top.

Help us keep this resource manageable. View your Zoom cloud storage at https://owu-edu.zoom.us/recording/, where you can export files before deleting them, if you wish. This will help us in Information Services not have to worry about running out of space.
