Studio Topics DANC Courses – Fall ’24

There is still room in both sections of DANC 100.2, which are a great option if you’re looking for a partial-credit class and are interested in learning how your body moves. Though they still require steady effort, they can also be a great way to relieve stress in the middle of the day!
Both sections welcome people of all levels, including those with no previous experience. Partial descriptions below. For full descriptions, search for DANC 100.2 on Self-Service.
Mindful Movement Fundamentals
This studio class will focus on exploring movement through a holistic, somatic (mind/body) lens that engages body, mind, and spirit. The class will utilize breath work, movement phrases, imagery, and gentle partner exercises to deepen body awareness, foster healthy movement patterns, and support mental well-being.
Dance Improvisation
This studio class will focus on dance improvisation as a creative tool for understanding the body, fostering artistic voice, and boosting physical confidence. Class exercises, games, and tasks will explore body awareness that supports the ability to be present, trust personal instincts and choices, and connect with others through physical creativity and play.
