The OWU Marching Bishops in collaboration with The Black Student Union and other organizations on campus are hosting The first ever OWU CREATE-A-THON! It is a pledge-based fundraiser that will support the efforts of the King Arts Complex, a Black arts center in Columbus.
Black art, and Black lives, matter. We are welcoming OWU students who work in all artistic forms to support the King Arts Complex in continuing its mission of connecting the community through the arts.
We are inviting all creative students to be involved. The goal is to gather people willing to pledge money for EACH HOUR of CREATIVE ART MAKING our students do. Each participant will sign up through our fundraiser’s RallyUp page, and this is where people can pledge money to each student.
This event will be in process from October 19th to November 1st. The first week (October 19th-25th) will be when students collect pledges through RallyUp.The second week (Oct. 26-Nov. 1) will be when students create art/practice, and log their hours.

Why are we doing this, and why should you be involved? Not all people in the US have equal opportunities to pursue artistic expression. The King Arts Complex helps provide that outlet for many in the Black community in Columbus. Their current event series, The HeArt of Protest, includes thirty arts and cultural organizations collectively putting forth 46 (non-sequential) days of artistic protest honoring the 46 years of Mr. George Floyd’s life.
Please help us spread the word about our fundraiser to the people who will be interested. We need the help of creative students!
