Dr. Sharif Bey is a ceramicist and Associate Professor of Art at Syracuse University. His work, which has been exhibited internationally, ranges from functional vessels to ceramic/mixed-media sculptures influenced by ritual and identity. He identifies as both a practicing and a teaching artist with experience in sculpture, art community programming and art teacher mentoring. Join us for a lecture on Thurs., Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. in Ham-Wil, Benes Room B as he discusses his practice and his work as an artist, educator, and mentor.
On Thurs., Sept. 6 and Fri., Sept. 7, he’ll be demonstrating his practices at Haycock Hall at open sessions from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. All members of the OWU community are invited to join Dr. Bey as he demonstrates his craft. Those interested may drop by at any time or stay for the entirety of a session.
