Predating the COVID-19 pandemic (2019–2023), Contagion is a medical thriller about an airborne virus, MEV-1, that triggers a global pandemic. The film follows public health officials, medical researchers, and ordinary people as society is upended by fear and misinformation while scientists race to develop a vaccine.
