First-Gen Social, Wednesday, Sept. 22, (4-5:30 pm) at the tent between Beeghly Library and Corns.
For first-gen* students, staff, and faculty, and those in solidarity with us. Come for snacks, beverages, and community!
* First-Gen students/graduates are those people whose parents do not have a 4-year college degree. However, many people can relate to parts of the first-gen experience or want to build cross-class solidarity, and all are welcome to attend!
The event is co-organized by Dawn Chisebe (Interim Chief Diversity Officer), Paul Dean (Associate Professor, Sociology/Anthropology), Megan Ellis (Executive Director, Career Connections), Brad Pulcini (Dean of Student Services), Jason Timpson (Director, OMSA), and Mallorie Watts (First-Gen Program Coordinator, Student).
This initial event will be the first of several events to raise awareness and build community. Thanks to the Office of Career Connections, we have first-gen T-shirts coming and will be organizing a T-shirt campaign the week of the event to help spread the word. Stay tuned for details on getting an OWU First-Gen T-shirt for anyone who wants one!
