POSTPONED to Oct. 3 – National Alert Testing May Activate Your Cellphone

Beginning at 2:18 p.m. Oct. 3, your cellphone may sound with an alert (similar to an Amber Alert) as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) conduct a nationwide test of the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system. The test, to be displayed as a “Presidential Alert,” will test the government’s readiness to contact the general population in the event of an emergency. You cannot opt out of receiving WEA messages. The original test was scheduled for Sept. 20 and has been postponed. You do not need to take action in response to the test. Thank you for your time and attention.
