Sept. 14 @ Noon – Faculty Lunch w/ Alum from Mid-Ohio Workers

The Social Justice major and the Office of Community Service Learning invite faculty and staff to a catered lunch with one of our alumni and community partners: Mid-Ohio Workers Association (MWA) Thursday 9/14 from 12:00-1:00 (Merrick Hall 202).

We will be joined by Brenda Dressel (2018 OWU alum) who is currently a full-time organizer for MWA, which serves low-income workers. Brenda will discuss how MWA can work with faculty and courses at OWU to connect students to community opportunities in your field.

Students from any major can find a way to put their skills to use through projects such as:
– helping us reach those most affected by economic policies on our door-to-door canvass.
– advocating with our volunteer physicians, lawyers and dentists to deliver free-of-charge services.
– designing publications that tell our members’ side of the story.
– assisting with our annual holiday events including a “safe and sane” Halloween Party for Children, and much more!

Sally will also share other related service learning opportunities, which can be tailored to your courses and fields. If you plan to join us, please email Paul Dean (psdean@owu.edu) so we can have the appropriate amount of food.
