Campus Operations Notification: The Schimmel/Conrades Parking Lot is closed to allow crews to move large equipment safely while installing solar canopies. The ADA spaces at the northwest corner of the lot remain accessible.
Please plan accordingly, and for your safety, do not enter the construction zone. Crews are having issues with people lifting the caution and entering the lot, which cannot happen. For everyone’s safety, we must maintain the integrity of the worksite.
By closing the lot, the contractor hopes to complete solar canopy installation in the science center lot this week and then resume work in other lots. Alternative parking sites for the Schimmel/Conrades lot include Selby Stadium, Phillips Hall, and the Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center.
We will update the owu.edu/solarparking webpage with the revised canopy installation schedule as soon as it is available. When the solar energy system starts producing power in fall 2027, it is expected to generate 8.2 million kilowatt-hours of clean, solar energy each year.
