Registration Is Here – What To Do If a Course Is Full

Registration for Fall and Summer classes is kicking off now! Consult the Registration Guide for your registration dateBecause class sizes are intentionally small, some classes may be full by the time you go to register. If you aren’t able to add all of the classes you want at first, do not fret. There are a variety of resources available to help.

  1. Be proactive and have a plan for alternative courses before you go to register. If you are stuck, contact your advisor, who can recommend other courses that fulfill the same requirements or share the next time a course will be offered. Registration opens at 7 a.m. and advisors may be teaching or assisting students during the day, so sometimes it may take a while to hear back. Rest assured, you will get a response.
  2. You can contact academicadvising@owu.edu if you have not heard back from your advisor in 48 hours. There are 72 hours between registration windows, so there is still time to make adjustments before other students register.
  3. You can waitlist the course, then contact the professor to explain your desire to take the course and see if it is possible to enroll. This option may not be available if the classroom size, equipment, or instructional methods depend on the listed class capacity, but it is still worth asking.
  4. You can attend the first week of the class in the Fall, even while you are still on the waitlist. Often, other students will drop a class once the semester has begun, and students who demonstrate they are still interested in the class get first dibs on adding.
