We will meet 2:30pm till 4:00pm, dry day (no rain days). We will set up at 2:30, instruction and shooting, then tear down done by 4:00pm. Location is at on old tennis courts closest to parking lot. On the corner of Harrison St. and Henry St. and next to Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center
You will learn archery from a certified instructor. You will shoot your first arrows at close distances while learning archery’s basic techniques. As your skills increase, your accuracy will improve, and you will shoot increasingly farther.
You will do a light warm up and stretch, but you will not run laps or break a sweat shooting archery, but you should dress appropriately. Wear closed-toed shoes like sneakers. If your lesson is outdoors, dress for the weather but avoid baggy clothes that can catch the bowstring. We will only do class on dry days, if you have long hair, wear a hat or it in a ponytail or pull it away from your face. You will draw the bowstring back to your face, and you do not want it to catch your hair when releasing the arrow.
We will be using recurve bows, while they look simply, there is actually a lot of physics involved, and a well-crafted recurve bow can shoot with astonishing accuracy.
Once you have tried archery, you will be hooked and want to make it part of your life. Continue taking lessons and think about the type of bow you want to shoot as you explore archery and its many disciplines. You can also become a USA certified archery instructor if you’re interested.
