Join Main Street Delaware for this month’s First Friday celebration from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 4. The event will include the official unveiling of the Rutherford B. Hayes statue during a ceremony from 6:30-7:15 p.m. at the corner of William and Sandusky streets.
Born on October 4, 1822, Hayes became a successful lawyer in Cincinnati, defending runaway slaves, was wounded four times during his service in the Civil War, was elected to the U.S. Congress and later as Ohio’s Governor, and ultimately served as the 19th President of the United States from 1877-1881. The Oct. 4 First Friday celebration also will feature fire trucks and firefighters and a free Baptiste yoga class with nationally known instructor and wounded warrior Dan Nevins. Although the 7:30 p.m. class is free, those who wish to attend are asked to register online at www.thewonderwithin.com as space is limited. And don’t forget to bring your mat!
See you downtown!
