Oct. 24 – Stéfanie von Hlatky: “Gender Considerations in Military Operations: Mission Critical?”

Stéfanie von Hlatky is an associate professor of political studies at Queen’s University and the former Director of the Queen’s Centre for International and Defence Policy (CIDP). Her research focuses on NATO, armed forces, military interventions and defense policy. She has held positions at Georgetown University, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Dartmouth College, the Centre for Security Studies at the ETH Zurich and was a Fulbright Visiting Research Chair at the University of Southern California.

She has published in the Canadian Journal of Political Science, the Canadian Foreign Policy Journal, Defense Studies, International Journal, European Security, Études internationales, Asian Security as well as the Journal of Transatlantic Studies. She is the author of “American Allies in Times of War: The Great Asymmetry” (Oxford University Press, 2013). Join us for her lecture on Oct. 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. in Benes Rooms A and B.
