OWU Chaplain Emeritus Jon Powers invites everyone to attend his Oct. 23 performance of “The History of Ohio Wesleyan University” or “Be Careful What You Let Upset You! How I Got From Circuit Rider to a Founder of a University.”
The event will begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Barn at Stratford, 2690 Stratford Road, Delaware. Admission is free, but guests will have an opportunity to make a donation to support the Delaware County Historical Society.
The performance will tell the story of the Rev. Adam Poe, an elder in the Methodist Episcopal Church and the mastermind behind starting Ohio Wesleyan University. With help from other Methodist leaders and Delaware residents, Poe worked to make Ohio Wesleyan a reality. In 1842, he was granted a charter to create Ohio Wesleyan, one of the nation’s premier liberal arts universities.
