The cast of Orchesis 19/20 invites you to the annual contemporary dance concert. This year’s production will be on the Chappelear Main Stage on Fri., Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. and Sat., Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. The show features 13 dancers and eight contemporary dance pieces created by students, faculty, and a guest choreographer.
Guest choreographer Megan Davis Bushway’s work, “Yellow Suite,” is an abstract landscape set to selections from Moondog’s album, Sax Pax for a Sax. A trio of dancers capture sonic textures from the musical score with sweeping phrase work and swift gestures. At once, they are individual voices and a unified ensemble.
The show also features the choreography of students Miah Gruber, Taylor Frasure, Maggie Welsh, Ellie Bearss, Tess Meddings, Anne Raspe, and dance faculty Rashana Perks Smith. An informal discussion with choreographers and a reception will follow the Friday night performance.
OWU students are admitted free to all performances. OWU employees are admitted free on Friday and for $5 on Saturday. General admission is $10 and $5 for senior citizens and non-OWU students with valid student IDs. A reception will follow each performance.
