Ohio Wesleyan will explore the evolution and impact of Black art and culture during its second Melvin Van Peebles Symposium from March 28-30, 2025.
The theme for the symposium is Disruption!! Signal Fires, Reckoning, and Black Jubilee Through Art. The event will include academic presentations, roundtable discussions, screenings and performances, an art exhibition and artist talk, and a moderated keynote address from Erika Alexander.
In order for this event to run smoothly, we will need help from student volunteers. Volunteers may serve in many roles including room set-up, guest check-in, runners, and more. Please use this form to register as a volunteer.
All volunteers will receive free admission to all symposium sessions (excluding VIP meet-and-greet) and meals. Your help is invaluable to ensure a spectacular symposium.
We also encourage students who cannot volunteer to attend the symposium. Student tickets can be purchased here at a discounted rate. Your ticket includes access to all symposium sessions (excluding VIP meet-and-greet) and meals. Student volunteers receive complimentary tickets.
