Mark your calendars and plan to join your family and friends at Ohio Wesleyan and in downtown for a fun-filled July.
July 4 – The City of Delaware reports: All Independence Day celebration events are on Thursday, July 4. Fireworks will launch from the traditional location at the City’s Cherry Street property at about 10 p.m. Prior to fireworks, the Central Ohio Symphony will perform its traditional outdoor concert on the Ohio Wesleyan campus at 7:30 p.m. More information is here. The day’s activities get started with the annual parade, beginning at 11 a.m. The route will follow past years, from the fairgrounds Liberty Street gate on Pennsylvania Avenue, to Sandusky Street, through the downtown to Wilmer Street to Henry Street.
July 5 – Main Street Delaware reports: First Friday boasts red, white, and blue – and every other color in the crayon box – during the “Chalk It Up for Freedom!” sidewalk chalk art party from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Artists of all types, from amateurs to professionals, along with businesses and nonprofits are all invited to show off their skills and turn the downtown sidewalks into art. There’s no cost to participate. In addition, you can catch free music downtown, made possible by PB&J Framing.
July 17 – The Martini Affair takes to the stage for Part 2 of Main Street Delaware’s Summer on Winter Concert Series from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on West Winter Street between Sandusky and Franklin streets. Admission is free. Two concerts follow this one on Aug. 21 featuring Gypsy Kyngs and Sept. 25 featuring RockHouse.
Saturdays through Oct. 26 – The Main Street Delaware Farmers’ Market continues from 9 a.m. to noon. Shop for fresh local produce, honey, meat, eggs, plants, handcrafted items, baked goods, and more.
