Jan. 20 @ Noon – MLK Presentation: ‘Pursuing the Dream’ by Dr. Korie Edwards

Join us in celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 20, when Dr. Korie L. Edwards, associate professor of sociology at The Ohio State University, presents “Pursuing the Dream,” at noon in Room 301 of Merrick Hall.

Edwards is a leading scholar of race and religion in the United States. Her books include “The Elusive Dream: The Power of Race in Interracial Churches” and “Against All Odds: The Struggle for Racial Integration in Religious Organizations.”OWU’s Gospel Lyres will lead the audience in singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

The campus community also is invited to attend the 35th annual MLK worship service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at the Delaware City Vineyard, 32 Troy Road. The free event will feature remarks from the Rev. Dr. Ervin Smith, emeritus professor of Christian ethics at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio.
