Jan 17. @ 11 a.m. – Alicia Brown Artist Talk!

Come hear Alicia Brown discuss her work on Friday at 11 a.m. in Edgar Hall, Room 121!

Jamaican-born painter Alicia Brown examines the complex cultural forces faced by Caribbean natives living away from their homelands. With a nod to iconic freedom fighters like Nanny of the Maroons, Brown highlights ideas of camouflage, transformation, and the reconstruction of identity. The work draws parallels to the resourcefulness of women in her own family and to cultural practices preserved across generations and geographies.
