How to Become a Data Analytics Intern

The Academic Affairs’ Office of Institutional Effectiveness is hiring a first-generation student to be a Data Analytics Intern for the 2022-2023 Academic Year. We ask that you have some experience working with data in a spreadsheet application such as Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel, and that you have an interest and desire to learn data analytics tools for analysis and visualization.

This position works with real institutional data that has a direct impact on various aspects of the university’s operation. The intern will have a role in developing cutting edge dashboard and visualization products that are then shared with others in the university. This is a unique experience as the Office of Institutional Effectiveness is often the contact for key university data that informs rapid decision making.

The student intern will retrieve data from internal data systems such as databases; build interactive data dashboards and visualizations in Power BI; generate descriptive statistics from a provided data set; create charts, graphs, and other visuals for projects to support university committees and senior leadership; and organize a digital research archive. The intern will gain directly transferable skills in processing and displaying data, which will not only aid their academic endeavors, but also prepare them to enter the workforce.

Be sure to apply by April 5th by going to the webpage below, selecting “First Generation Student” and then selecting the internship choice “Academic Affairs / Data Analytics Intern / Dale Brugh”.
