In this thought-provoking performative lecture titled Feeding the Future: Food, Justice, and Art as Tools for Liberation, James Beard Award-winning chef, cookbook author, publisher, and multidisciplinary artist Bryant Terry will discuss the arc of his multifaceted career and his efforts to create a more healthy, just, and sustainable food system.
From his early days as a grassroots food justice activist to becoming the visionary editor-in-chief of 4 Color Books, Terry has consistently used food as a medium for storytelling, resistance, and cultural preservation, while also exploring its power to build community, reclaim ancestral knowledge, and imagine radical new futures. Through personal reflections, behind-the-scenes insights into his process, and a discussion of his latest projects—including his upcoming MFA thesis project Sacred Larder—Terry will inspire students to pursue their passions with purpose, creativity, and a commitment to making the world a better place.
The lecture will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on March 26 on the 3rd floor of Merrick Hall.
