Healthy Tip of the Week

Eating a balanced diet at a college dining hall can be tricky. However, according to Harvard’s School of Public Health, eating a nutrient-rich diet can strengthen your immune system’s response to infectious diseases. Nutrients such as “ vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, selenium, iron, and protein” have all been linked to the growth and health of immune cells. While there is no fast and easy diet that will give you an undefeatable immune system, “a high-fiber plant-rich diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes appear to support the growth and maintenance of beneficial microbes.” Enjoy those tater tots, Bishops, but don’t forget to have some veggies on the side!
