Health Tip of the Week! – Healthy Smartphone Use

Love your iPhone? Samsung? Whichever team you’re on, that phone may be negatively impacting your health. Here’s some tips to use your phone more responsibly.

1) Turn down the blue light at night. Blue light signals your body to stay awake, as blue light comes from both artificial screens and the sun. Be sure to use your phone’s night shift to improve your sleep. For even better sleep improvement, restrict your phone use before bed to calm down and unwind.

2) Manage your screen time. Sometimes, too much time on your phone can be overwhelming or detrimental to your study habits. Try tracking your phone usage using an app like Moment or Flipd to increase your awareness of your phone usage.

3) Watch your posture. The common posture for using your phone is hunched over, which can be harmful to your neck and spine. Be conscious of how you’re sitting and hold your phone higher to help out your neck.
