As a college student with unlimited meal swipes and stressful classes, it can be all too easy to fall into the temptation of overeating or not pay attention to our food choice. Here are some quick tips to help you better manage your eating habits!
1) Distinguish between true hunger and cravings. Hunger generally occurs a few hours after you’ve last eaten, while a craving is an urge to consume something out of habit, boredom or stress.
2) Pay attention to what food you keep in your dorm. It can be easy to give into unhealthy cravings when you keep the Oreos and candy in your room. Try keeping healthy snacks on hand for when hunger strikes.
3) Satisfy cravings wisely. Desserts are great, but be responsible when the need for chocolate or another favorite food hits you. Share your dessert with a friend, eat a small serving of the food and don’t go back for seconds! Take the time to enjoy the food when you are eating it, but pay attention and don’t overindulge.
