When your uterus is mad at you, what can you do? There are a lot of remedies that have been proven to help alleviate this monthly pain. Cramping can be lessened by drinking chamomile tea and applying heat to the lower abdomen. Chamomile tea can be found in HWCC for students to have. Studies have also shown that exercising before and during your period lessens cramping. Running, going for a brisk walk, and yoga are all options that have been shown to help.
Bloating can also be a menace. Women are encouraged to drink a lot of water (more than the usual 8 glasses a day) and to eat healthily during this time. A mix of a healthy diet and an increase in water intake prevents bloating. Adding foods high in potassium like dark leafy greens, sweet potatoes, bananas, avocados and tomatoes are particularly helpful.
