Guidelines for In-Person Campus Events, Athletics Attendance

Beginning today, Feb. 22, we will allow limited gatherings for student events and open athletic competitions for a limited number of pre-registered students and employees. Swim meets will not be open to spectators.

Here are the guidelines for student and University events:

• Indoor gatherings of up to 10 people will be permitted. Everyone attending must wear a proper face mask (covering the nose and mouth) and observe physical distancing guidelines. The space for indoor gatherings must be large enough to comfortably accommodate up to 10 people with everyone remaining six feet apart.

• Outdoor gatherings of up to 50 people will be permitted. Everyone attending must wear a proper face mask and observe physical distancing guidelines.

Space for both indoor and outdoor events should be reserved via owu.edu/schedule. Additionally, student organizations should properly register their student events through the Engage portal. For assistance in navigating the registration process, please click here.

For athletics events, players will be given two passes to give to family members and up to 50 OWU students and 25 faculty and staff will be able to attend games in Branch Rickey Arena. All spectators, including those with player-provided tickets, must preregister at least a day in advance. They also must agree to sit in a designated area and follow all public safety guidelines. No walkup spectators will be permitted.

We are able to make these changes because of the efforts you have made to mask up, avoid travel off campus, and keep the virus away from OWU. Please keep up the good work. If everyone continues to follow healthy practices and respect the campus community, we are confident we will be able to make other small, safe steps on the road to a more “normal” campus experience.
