Former Staff Member Kathy Earls Passes Away

We are sad to share that former OWU staff member Kathryn “Kathy” Earls passed away May 22 following a four-year battle with breast cancer. She was 59.

A Columbus resident, Kathy worked as the administrative assistant for University Advancement and Vice President Natalie Doan for nearly a decade, retiring in 2021.

Her family shares that Kathy was a “passionate animal lover and devoted dog rescuer … known for her big heart and generous spirit, always opening her home to those in need. She found joy in the simple wonders of life: tending her garden, watching birds, and cherishing time in nature. … She was known for her unwavering optimism, kindness, and gift for making others feel seen and valued.”

Please join us in sharing our deepest sympathies with her husband, Carl Earls, their son, Cody Earls, and all who knew and loved Kathy. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Her family suggests contributions to Buckeye Bulldog Rescue, P.O. Box 641, Grove City, Ohio, 43123.
