We are sad to have learned recently that former OWU staff member Ben Emch passed away unexpectedly April 12. He was 43.
A resident of Marysville, Ben worked at OWU from February 2012 through June 2021, serving as the University’s director of budget and accounting systems. Colleagues remember him as someone who was “well-liked and friendly to all, had a great smile and wicked sense of humor, and loved his family dearly.”
According to his obituary: “Ben was known to have a huge heart, always protecting and defending those important to him. More than anything else in the world, Ben loved his 6-year-old daughter, Shelby, and was constantly making her feel loved and cared for. … He was loved by so many people and will be incredibly missed.”
A celebration of Ben’s life was held April 30. The family asks friends to consider a donation to Shelby’s future. A UTMA (Uniform Gifts to Minors Act) account has been created with Edward Jones for her in Ben’s honor.
