Have you seen the yellow buses driving around Delaware or at their shelter on Park Avenue? Or maybe you’ve seen the larger black-and-teal bus. They are all Delaware County Transit buses, and they are available for anyone to ride.
The agency’s new transportation service FLEX allows passengers to call the same day and choose their pick up and drop off location within Delaware City. You get an automated call that your bus is 10 minutes away. Riders are then asked to be ready and waiting at the curb.
FLEX operates Monday thru Friday from 6 am to 5:45 pm. The usual cost to ride FLEX one way is $1 or less, but, as an OWU student, your first roundtrip FLEX ride is free! Just tell the scheduler that you are an OWU student and it’s your first trip.
DCT is using many safety precautions to keep you safe during your ride, such as requiring face coverings for drivers and passengers, frequently sanitizing buses, and limiting how many riders can be on each bus at a time.
To schedule, riders can call 740-363-3355, M-F, 6 am to 5:45 pm or use the system’s online form at www.delcotransit.com. A scheduling app will also be available in the future.
