Dr. Hollis Griffin is Associate Professor of Communication at Denison University. Invited by Dr. Cusato, Dr. Griffin will be speaking about the famous and intriguing French film entitled Le Genou de Claire (Claire’s Knee, 1970) on Tues., Feb. 19 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
Dr. Griffin is particularly interested in how media forms like cinema, television, social media networks and internet memes inform and are informed by ideas about emotion as they circulate in the contemporary U.S. His research is animated by questions like: How does anger shape our experiences of using the internet? Why might we raise an eyebrow at a particular movie or internet meme? How is sexuality represented in various media forms and what does it tell us about national identity? This is sure to be an animated, brilliant and provocative intervention. Please do come join us for this wonderful event, sponsored by the Department of Modern Foreign Languages.
