Sept. 3 – Fall Semester Test of the OWU ALERT System

On Sept. 3 (new date!), Ohio Wesleyan will conduct its fall semester test of the OWU ALERT emergency notification system. The test will be sent over the lunch hour to all registered alert recipients using the 911Cellular software system.

If you do not receive an expected voice, text, or CampusShield app message, please take the following steps to verify and (if needed) update your OWU ALERT enrollment information:

  • Students: Ensure that your cell phone number is correct in your official OWU student record. (If you need assistance, contact the Registrar’s Office at registrar@owu.edu.) If you have parents or guardians who wish to receive emergency notifications, they should text the word OWUalertFamily (not case sensitive and no spaces between words) to 58843.
  • Faculty and staff: Ensure that your cell phone number is correct in ADP. If you have significant others who wish to receive emergency notifications, they should text the word OWUalertPartner (not case-sensitive and no spaces between words) to 58843.
  • Third-party employees working on campus: Download the CampusShield app (see links below). Please contact your employer for the six-digit code you will need to complete your registration.
  • All: OWU ALERT voice messages will come from 740-737-8880. Please add this number to your phone contacts as OWU ALERT EMERGENCY.
  • All: If you have not downloaded the CampusShield app, download it now (Android) (iOS) for access to OWU ALERT push notifications. (Members of the OWU community: You will need to use your owu.edu email to sign up.)

Anyone is able to view the last OWU ALERT notifications online for at least 48 hours at www.owu.edu/emergency.

If you have other questions, please contact Public Safety @ psafety@owu.edu or Cole Hatcher @ cehatche@owu.edu. Thank you for your time and attention.
