Earlier this year, Delaware City Council passed an ordinance to increase hourly parking rates in the downtown. The rate will increase to $0.50 an hour on July 1, 2023, and then to $1 an hour on Jan. 1, 2024. The rates were last adjusted in 2006. According to the city, the increase will support technology upgrades, implementing parking kiosks, lot maintenance, enforcement personnel costs, and equipment upgrades, and further encourage vehicle turnover in the core downtown area.
