On Sept. 3, Ohio Wesleyan tested its OWU ALERT emergency notification system. All students and employees should have received an email sent to your owu.edu email account and a text message sent to your cell phone of record with the University. (You may have received a voice message, too.) If you have installed the CampusShield app on your phone, you should have received the OWU ALERT in the app, too.
If you didn’t receive the ALERT, please check your phone’s spam folders. If messages were discarded, please mark them as “not spam.” Text messages may appear to come from 58843 and voice messages from 740-737-8880. Please add this phone number to your contacts as OWU ALERT so you will know it’s urgent.
To use the free CampusShield app, download it here: (Android) (iOS). (Third-party employees without an owu.edu email address will need to install the app using a six-digit CampusShield enrollment code available from their employers.)
If you need to change your cell phone number in your OWU record:
- Students, please email cell phone corrections to registrar@owu.edu.
- Employees, please log into the ADP Portal and use the “Myself,” “My Information,” and “Profile” links to update cell phone information.
- If you have an owu.edu email issue, please contact the Information Systems Help Desk at helpdesk@owu.edu.
Parents or guardians of students who wish to sign up for OWU ALERT text messages should text OWUalertFamily (not case-sensitive, with no spaces between words) to 58843 to receive notifications and STOP to the same number to discontinue receiving them.
Spouses or partners of OWU employees should text OWUalertPartner (not case-sensitive with no spaces between words) to 58843 to receive emergency notifications and STOP to the same number to discontinue receiving them.
Anyone is able to view the most recent OWU ALERT notifications online for at least 48 hours at www.owu.edu/emergency.
