Today @ 8pm – Performing Arts Department presents A New Mix of Sounds, A Mix of New Sounds Concert

The Ohio Wesleyan Department of Performing Arts presents, in concert, faculty members Double Bassist Garry Wasserman, assisted by Pianist Youmee Kim at 8 p.m. Nov. 30 in Jemison Auditorium. A wide and eclectic mix of styles composed from 1750 up through the late 20th century will be performed on the double bass in an uncommon role as a solo instrument. Featured will be 20th century unaccompanied works by American composer Sherwood Shaffer and Italian Luciano Berio, Kol Nidrei by German composer Max Bruch, and the First Cello Suite of J.S. Bach performed complete. The concert will climax with Argentinian tango composer Astor Piazzolla’s “Kicho” written exclusively for the double bass.
