Are you interested in Latin America and want to learn more about its culture, history, politics, art, and economy? Did you know that OWU now offers a Latin American and Latine Studies major and minor?
The new (revised) major and minor will appear in next year’s catalog (2025-26). In the meantime, please contact the LALS program director, Dr. Andrea Colvin, for more information.
The following courses offered this fall (2025) will count toward the major or minor: ART 305, ECON 277, FREN 230, FREN 499, PG 344, SPAN 350, SPAN 371 The new LALS major will require 8.25 units and an OWU Connection experience related to Latin America or the Latine community in the U.S..
The minor will require 5.25 units. Both require intermediate proficiency in a language spoken in Latin America (Spanish, French, Portuguese, or an indigenous language of Latin America). Please reach out with any questions! (Dr. Colvin, arcolvin@owu.edu)
