Dr. Valerie Lee will be here on campus to discuss her new book: Sisterlocking Discoarse: Race, Gender, and the Twenty First Century Academy. Dr. Lee is Professor Emerita in English, is the former chair of three Ohio State academic departments: the Department of Women’s Studies (now Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies); the Department of English (two terms); and the Department of African American and African Studies (Interim Chair). Also, she served a five-year term as the university’s Chief Diversity Officer and Vice Provost of Diversity and Inclusion, and a three-year term as Vice President of Outreach and Engagement. As she writes in the introduction, “Sisterlocking Discoarse is about braiding and breathing and believing that a Black woman’s journey through the academy is important.”
The event will be held in the Bayley Room at Beeghly Library, Tuesday April 5 from 4 -5 PM. Please wear face masks for the event.
