Join us for an OWU Hillel Passover Seder, on April 3rd, 2022, at 4:30 pm. It will be held in the Benes Room in the Hamilton-Williams Campus Center on the Ohio Wesleyan University campus.
Passover (also called Pesach) is a Jewish holiday celebrating the Exodus (liberation) of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Passover is often celebrated with great pomp and ceremony, especially on the first night, when a special meal called the Seder is held. At the Seder, foods of symbolic significance commemorating the Hebrews’ liberation are eaten, and prayers and traditional recitations are performed. The holiday spans 8 days, from the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Nissan through the 22nd day. Throughout the holiday, leavened foods (known as chametz) are forbidden, and matzah (unleavened bread) is eaten instead, representing the unleavened bread that the Israelites had to take with them on their swift exit out of Egypt.
